Speaker: Dr Marion Real

Announcing Dr Marion Real as a speaker at the There and Back Again Event.

Marion is working with Centre for Circular Design on the Mistra Future Fashion project. Marion is a systemic design researcher exploring social representations in circular transitions. She recently integrated the LDOC program in CCD for discussing the potential of convivial technologies and local production networks through different circular fashion speed narratives.

Speaker: Dr Dawn Ellams

We are excited to announce that Dr Dawn Ellams will be speaking at Day 1 of the event.

Trash 2 Cash: Facilitating end of life scenarios for fibre regeneration

Dawn is a researcher, designer and educator whose interdisciplinary research focusses on the relationship between science and design in creating circularity for production and use to end-of-life applications.

Dawn’s current work incorporates design thinking to explore and communicate life cycle stories; developing interdisciplinary tools to create cyclical models for materials.

Event Information

There and back again is a two-day event at Chelsea College of Arts, 15-16 March 2018 offering cross-disciplinary perspectives on end-of-life for products and materials, questioning the current wasteful model and offering circular alternatives.

The first day is an open and public event (all welcome) comprising of a series of talks on the topic. This will include presentations from CCD researchers, PhD students and industry keynote speaker followed by networking drinks. This is a free  but ticketed event which are available from the link below.

The second day is for all UAL students and will be introduced in the morning with speakers on the subject of the end of life (products/materials), followed by MA interdisciplinary presentations, and a series of workshops.

MA Student Applications to Speak

There and back again is a two-day event at Chelsea College of Arts, 15-16 March 2018 offering cross-disciplinary perspectives on end-of-life for products and materials, questioning the current wasteful model and offering circular alternatives.

We would like to invite MA students from across UAL to contribute to the second day of this event, by making a series of presentations about end-of-life strategies for products and materials.

This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with researchers and be a part of the conversation about waste, and design solutions. Students can apply individually or in groups (maximum of 3) to make a 10 minute presentation on their project(s) or research relating to this subject matter.

To apply to take part: please send a 100 word abstract describing how your work addresses the challenges of design for end-of-life in the circular economy.

Applications to be sent to:  l.forst0220161@arts.ac.uk.
